This document will discuss information regarding the manner in which WDG copyrighted materials may be distributed. Before we begin, please note that you may contact Arnoud "Galactus" Engelfriet or John Pozadzides at any time if you need clarification or wish to discuss any matter dealing with these distribution policies.
The term "Files" will be used throughout this document to denote program files and documents originally released for distribution by the Web Design Group. These files will be packaged in a compressed format with a descriptive document titled "about.txt", as well as a distribution document titled "file_id.diz". All documents and files included in the WDG release must be redistributed in original condition. A "courier id" document may be added to the compressed file so long as it does not exceed 2kb in size.
PLEASE NOTE: HTML documents on the WDG's web sites are NOT considered distributable files!
These files are freely available for both Personal and Corporate use. Except as otherwise indicated by the Copyright, any person is hereby authorized to view, copy, print, and distribute WDG files without modification for non-commercial use. You do not need to specifically alert the WDG of your intention to distribute them from a web site, although we would be very happy to add your site to the list of Distribution sites.
Please note however that the Web Design Group exists as a not for profit entity and as such relies upon charitable contributions to provide and expand its services. We urge you to contact John Pozadzides if you or your company can contribute to our efforts.
If you wish to include any of the WDG files with a commercial product (such as a Book, HTML Authoring Software, or any type of Disk); you must first obtain written permission from the WDG before doing so. The WDG will not expect any monetary payment for the distribution of WDG files so long as the price of the end product is not increased due to the inclusion of the files in it. However, we do ask that you seriously consider Sponsoring the WDG to assist in the ongoing efforts to provide more and better services to the HTML authoring community at large.
Please contact Arnoud "Galactus" Engelfriet or John Pozadzides to arrange for permission to include the file in your product. Please note however that at the very least, you will be required to provide one fully licensed copy of the product for each of the Seven members of the WDG.
Significant Sponsors of the Web Design Group will be show-cased on our main page, and all Sponsors will be listed on the WDG Sponsors page. Additionally, Sponsors may donate funds for general or restricted purposes. If you would like to see a specific area of the HTMLHELP.com site further developed or even a new section added, we will "restrict" the donation to be used for that specific purpose. The WDG would be very interested in receiving a grant for, or a gift of, new hardware to expand its client serving capabilities.
Perhaps the best reason to become a Sponsor of the WDG is to contribute to the free exchange of knowledge. All of the WDG's Members are dedicated to increasing the availability of accurate HTML authoring information, and supporting the principle of accessibility for all.
We invite you to become part of the fullfillment of that goal.
